On 3 June 2025, the RESPECT project, in collaboration with GR4FITE3, will host the webinar "Powering Europe's Net-Zero Future: Graphite's Role in Clean Energy Competitiveness and Innovation" as part of EU Green Week (3–5 June 2025).

This engaging session will spotlight graphite’s pivotal role as a critical raw material in Europe's clean energy transition. The discussion will explore key challenges and opportunities across the graphite value chain, with a particular focus on supply chain resilience, market trends, innovative recycling technologies, and the regulatory landscape for lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries.

A central highlight will be the RESPECT project's forward-thinking approach to circular battery value chains, showcasing advances in graphite recovery and reuse technologies.

Agenda Highlights:

  • Graphite Market Overview: Current trends and future outlook

  • Innovative Recycling Processes: Critical raw materials with a focus on graphite

  • Contributions to Europe’s Circular Economy and Battery Sustainability

  • EU Regulations and Standards: Updates on Li-ion battery frameworks

  • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): Environmental impact of synthetic vs. natural graphite supply chains

  • Advanced Graphite Purification: Ultra-high purity natural graphite and synthetic graphite reuse

  • ...and more

This webinar offers a unique opportunity for industry stakeholders, policymakers, researchers, and clean tech innovators to gain valuable insights into how research and innovation are shaping the future of Europe’s green and competitive energy landscape.

This session will centre on the importance of graphite as a critical raw material in Europe’s clean energy transition. The webinar's agenda will mainly address supply chain challenges, market dynamics, innovative recovery processes, and the evolving regulatory environment surrounding Li-ion batteries. A key feature will be the RESPECT project’s approach to circular battery value chains, with an emphasis on advanced graphite recycling technologies.
